Creative Writing Workshops
Have you ever wanted to try Creative Writing in English?
My name is Liz Treacher and I am a qualified English Language coach and Creative Writing tutor with 20 years experience. My workshops explore poetry and photography in a way that will inspire you to talk and write more fluently in English.
The sessions take place on Zoom at a time and day to suit you. The individual sessions are an opportunity for you to discuss poetry and photography in English, as well as trying your hand at some writing.
Benefits for You:
You will discover new poems and new images and have the opportunity to discuss them in English. You will also be able to practise your Creative Writing skills.
English Level Required:
To fully benefit from the sessions, your English level should ideally be B2 or above. As the sessions are 1:1, you will have lots of opportunity to speak and practice your English.
How a creative writing session works:
1. We discuss the general theme of the session, for example Nature, and build up a vocabulary list of related or contrasting words.
2. Then we read a couple of published poems together, look at photographic images with the same theme and discuss them. We talk about what we like and don't like about the images and poems, what they remind us of and how they relate to our own lives. A session usually lasts 60 minutes.
3. If you are inspired by something we have read or discussed in the session and would like to write a poem or short piece of prose in response, you are very welcome to do this between sessions. Some people email their writing for feedback in advance of the next session or just bring it along to share.
My Experience:
I have a Masters in English Literature and have taught English Language at the University of Glasgow and the University of the Highlands and Islands. I am also a writer. I have written four novels and have had poems published.
